Originally painted with gouache, this fine art print is inspired by Peonies, perennial plants native to Asia, Europe, and Western North America. Peonies have been cultivated since ancient times, their seeds and roots used as food and medicine. Their cultivation as ornamental plants can be traced back to 6th century China. In Greek mythology, mischievous nymphs were said to reside between their ethereal petals. These plants are persistent and hardy, and once they are established, they can keep producing their blooms for decades to come. The ornamental frame and vase in this painting are inspired by Chinese ceramic painting traditions from the Qianlong period. Print dimensions are 5x6.5 inches. Printed with pigment based inks on archival, acid free paper.
